Come and join us at Junior Shepherd Week at Bluebell Dairy! From the 14th to the 22nd of February 2026, we’ve got a week packed with fun activities where you can get hands-on with farm life. Whether you’re a kid or just young at heart, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here’s a little glimpse of what’s in store:

Lambing Live: The Miracle of New Life

The highlight of the event is, without a doubt, Lambing Live in our Cow Palace. Witness the wonder of lambs being born right before your eyes – an incredible moment that’s sure to tug at your heartstrings. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a lamb’s very first steps as it enters the world. This is farming at its most magical – a real-life lesson in nature and the circle of life.

 

Lambing Lessons: Learning Through Laughter

Want to get even more hands-on? Join our Lambing Lessons for a fun and interactive deep dive into the lambing process. You’ll learn from our friendly farmers, crawl through our human-sized birthing tube, and share plenty of laughs along the way. It’s a brilliant way to understand what goes into caring for our woolly friends.

Milking Demos: Meet Our Robotic Milker

Ever wondered how milk gets from cow to bottle? Our Milking Demos are the perfect chance to find out! Watch our cows being milked by our state-of-the-art robotic milker, and learn all about the fascinating process from our knowledgeable farmers.

Farmer Role Play Activities: Fun for Little Farmers

For our younger visitors, the Farmer Role Play Activities are a chance to jump into the boots of a farmer and get stuck in with imaginative tasks:

  • Highland Cow Brushing: Pretend to groom these majestic creatures and learn about their care.
  • Sheep Shearing: Have fun with safe, kid-friendly tools while discovering how wool is collected.
  • Seed Planting: Get hands-on with nature as kids plant and care for their very own seeds.
  • Carrot Harvesting: Experience the joy of digging up carrots from the soil.
  • Calf a Cow: Learn about the incredible process of calving and how farmers look after cows and their calves.
  • Countryside Crafts: Let creativity flow with activities like making bird feeders or trying traditional farm crafts.
  • Farmer Dress-Up: Snap a fun family photo as your little ones transform into mini-farmers in classic farming gear.

And that’s not all – we’ve got plenty of surprise activities to keep the fun going all day long!

 

Small Animal Encounters: Cuteness Overload

No visit to Bluebell Dairy is complete without meeting our adorable small animals! Your kids will love:

  • Chick Handling: Gently hold our fluffy chicks and learn about their life on the farm.
  • Small Animal Petting: Get up close to friendly rabbits, guinea pigs, and more in our interactive petting area.

Whiskers and Wiggles Show: A Fun Educational Experience
