Where to See Lambs: A Hands-On Junior Shepherd Experience at Bluebell Dairy

Every year, we get asked the same lovely question: where to see lambs? And honestly, there’s nothing we enjoy more than welcoming families onto our farm to experience one of the most special times of the year.

At Bluebell Dairy, lambing season is a big part of life on the farm. It’s when the fields start to feel alive again, the days get a little brighter, and our newest arrivals steal everyone’s hearts. Through our  Junior Shepherd Week, visitors don’t just see lambs, they get to understand them, learn about them, and see what life on a real working farm is really like.

Seeing Lambs Up Close on Our Farm

When people search for where to see lambs, they’re usually hoping for more than a quick peek over a fence. At our farm, we focus on quality, not crowds. Junior Shepherd Week gives visitors the chance to see lambs in a calm, caring environment, guided by our friendly farm team who look after them every day.

We love answering children’s questions – from “Why do lambs follow their mums?” to “What do farmers do during lambing season?” – and helping them connect the dots between animals, farming and food.

Learning Through Junior Shepherd Week

Junior Shepherd Week is all about hands-on learning. We want children (and grown-ups!) to leave knowing more than when they arrived. During the experience, visitors learn:

  • How lambs are cared for from the moment they’re born

  • What happens on a farm during lambing season

  • Why sheep are important to British farming

  • How farmers look after animal welfare every day

It’s a gentle, engaging way to bring farming to life, and it’s especially popular with families, grandparents and schools looking for something meaningful and memorable.

A Lovely Day Out

For many of our visitors, seeing lambs becomes the highlight of their February visit. Junior Shepherd Week Event fits perfectly into a relaxed day out at Bluebell Dairy – time outdoors, fresh air, animals to meet, and, of course, a visit to our ice cream parlour for a scoop of ice cream made right here on the farm.

We often hear parents say their children talk about the lambs long after they’ve gone home – and that’s exactly what we hope for.
